The project formed a central component of the Cardiff Bay Development Corporation’s Inner Harbour Master plan. Commissioned by the Development Corporation for end user Harry Ramsden’s Fish and Chip Restaurant, the scheme involved the conversion and significant extension of the former Victorian Custom’s House to create a dining room, function suite, takeaway counter and kitchen. The new build elements are conceived as lightweight pavilions adjoining the original redbrick core. The design features large oversailing gull wing roofs supported on glulam beams, with curtain wall glazing and cedar cladding. The project included public realm works and a new public garden.
