James House Architectural Assistant

James graduated from the University West of England, Bristol in July 2017 and was awarded First Class Honours in BSc Architecture. During his third and final year, James was nominated for the RIBA Bronze Medal for his studio project for the National Centre for Music in Copenhagen. The concept was built upon the Danish tradition of bathing as well hosting the popular Copenhagen Jazz Festival. A fusion of water and music.

His final year dissertation looked at how green landscaping has been used in The Brutalist Barbican Estate. Much of James’ previous work reflects the strong contrast between raw materials and soft landscaping, as well as pushing the boundaries of the public and private realms.

During the Summer of 2016, James took part in an Internship working for UWE Bristol, a feasibility study for a new engineering building. After university, in 2017, James joined Designscape Architects as a Part 1 Architectural Assistant. Here he works on a variety of different projects, all adding to his placement experience.
